Alessandro Mendini

Alessandro Mendini was a versatile and multi-faceted Italian personality: an architect, a designer, a painter, a journalist, as well as a critic and theorist of architecture and design. He established new theories and ideas about postmodern design, trivial design and the re-design. Together with his brother, he founded Atelier Mendini in Milan, where he worked on an extensive range of projects from furniture pieces, to works of art, architecture, design objects and installations. His art and design convey a message of innovation and sarcasm towards both handicraft and industrial production.
